I have had a swan painting on my mind for some time now and have taken quite a few photographs of them on my travels. However, when my friend and accomplished bird photographer, Tim Kauffman, shared his swan photo and gave me permission to use it as inspiration, I knew the time had come to paint a swan! I am always fascinated by the patterns created by reflections, especially in water, so this painting is as much a painting of reflections as it is a painting of the swan. Who loves the dramatic contrast created by the light feathers of the mute swan set against deep blues of the water? (My hand is raised.)
