This painting was inspired by a recent unpacking of hand-stitched quilts sewn by my great grandmother. The organic lines and colorful patterns are meant to mimic the stitches and fabrics used to create these heirlooms. The background is comprised of collaged maps and other papers which encourage the viewer to approach the painting for a close-up view of its detailed elements.
